The Structured Materials Group is headed by Dr
Geoff Moggridge. With a diverse range of
projects within the
group, the overarching link between them is the production or
utilisation of microstructures for particular
application. Examples of current work include producing an efficient
method of controlling zebra mussel populations, which cause environmental problems as well
as causing problems for industry, and utilising block copolymer phase structures in making
nanoporous material.
The Structured Materials Group falls under the Department's Measurement and Microstructure Engineering research themes. It is also one of the groups forming the Materials Cluster, which also includes the Polymer Fluids and Pastes groups. These groups all share similar interests and work closely together, convening every fortnight to discuss topics of common interest.
