Prof Nigel Slater
Professor Nigel Slater has been appointed the new Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology with effect from 1 October 2010. Nigel was a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Cambridge in the 1980s and following an industrial career with Unilever and Welcome was Head of the Chemical Engineering Department at Aston University. He came back to Cambridge in 2000 when he accepted election to the new Professorship of Chemical Engineering. He is also the head of the BioScience Engineering Research Group.
Professor Lisa Hall will now be the Deputy Head for Research, taking over this responsibility from Prof Slater on 1 October.
Other recent staff changes include Dr Axel Zeitler's appointment to a Lectureship, Dr Bart Hallmark to the Design Lectureship and Dr James McGregor to a Temporary Lectureship.
