Debbie Jacobs and her team provide drinks and snacks for staff, students and visitors at tea breaks every day and also provide refreshments such as coffee and biscuits or buffet lunches for meetings and seminars.
To do this, they have to conform to the same food safety legislation as a commercial restaurant. All the staff are trained in food handling and the premises must gain a food hygiene certificate from the City Council. The Department has now achieved grade 5 in this certification, which is the highest possible grade. Debbie and her team are to be congratulated on this achievement.
