CEB Career Talk Series 2015-2016: Call for Speakers

last modified Jul 02, 2015 10:54 AM

The dates for next year CEB Career Talk series have now been released and CEB is looking for alumni/ae to contribute a presentation on a relevant Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology career topic.

CEB graduate leaders of industry and academia are invited to return to their alma mater and reminisce about the past, whilst also having the opportunity to share their own professional experience and give students an overview of their chosen career path as well as extremely valuable advice on career-related matters.

The 2015-2016 career talks will be taking place on:

Michaelmas Term Thursday 29 October 2015, Thursday 26 November 2015

Lent Term Thursday 28 January 2016, Thursday 25 February 2016

Easter Term Thursday 28 April 2016, Thursday 12 May 2016

As from the end of October CEB‘s sparkling new building in West Cambridge will be the host of the twice-a-term lunchtime talks. Efforts are being made to ensure undergraduates get a full picture of the different career options available to them.

This academic year’s career talks have covered a diverse range of topics and career options available to our undergraduates: from chemical engineering skills required to lead a multimillion pharma business to food and drink process engineering tips, to the workings of agricultural and even careers in IP.

So far since the series was launched 2 years ago students have hugely benefitted from the career tips given, the networking opportunities facilitated and the new valuable connections made. Many others have also received information about internships or potential job opportunities available in a particular area of interest. This information has often helped them make more informed career decisions and some students have at times even received job offers following attendance to the talk.

In addition, the talks have given students the chance to interact with Department graduates, experts in their own fields, and to ask corporate reps more specific questions on what’s involved in a particular job and what’s required to make a successful application to a specific company.

In the first instance, those wanting to get involved in the Career Series by contributing a presentation on a relevant career of choice on one of the dates available, please contact Elena Gonzalez on or +44 (0)1223762587
