Design Project Winners 2009

Tim Johanson, Sarah Gibson, Ian Dumolo, Immanuel Kemp, Naomi Jones and William Tan

The Design Project is a major part of the coursework for Chemical Engineering students in their third year at Cambridge. In groups of 5 or 6, they spend 5 weeks designing a plant, then hand in a report and give a presentation on their process.

The project involves the conceptual and process design of a whole plant and the brief for 2009 was focused on the treatment of water contaminated with sulphuric acid, Ti02 and Fe2+ (in solution). This is a by-product of the sulphuric extraction process of Ti from its ore.

The winners were Tim Johanson, Sarah Gibson, Ian Dumolo, Immanuel Kemp, Naomi Jones and William Tan.
