Gemma Goodfellow is one of our CDT students. She's just finished her MRes (Master by Research) in Sensor Technologies and will be doing a PhD next year developing an imaging tool to classify virus morphologies. She is part of the Laser Analytics Group.
She also has other talents and for two weeks in August she is in a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival called Alice.
She says, "I started doing gymnastics again when I began my MRes this year. It had been a little while since I had trained as I had my daughter in 2013! I had the opportunity to be part of Alice as part of the ADC theatre production in January. The show was a massive success and we received 5 star reviews. So the cast applied for funding from CUADC to perform at the Fringe Festival. We were lucky to be awarded the funding which covers the venue costs. I then applied for funding from my college to attend and was lucky to receive the Tizard Student Opportunities fund to cover my accommodation costs! This award was given by alumni in honour of the first Senior Tutor of the college, Dick Tizard."
She added, "I am really excited to be able to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe festival and it has been an amazing experience so far. The atmosphere is so inclusive and the other performers are extremely inspirational. I am looking forward to the next 14 days of performances."
