On 28 August 2015, the department gathered together to say farewell to Annette Williams and Peter Foreman.

Peter was Department Administrator (Resources) and was the man everyone went to when there was a problem with the building or its administration.

Annette was a Senior Lab Technician and has worked in CUBE (Cambridge Unit for Bioscience Engineering) and CURB (Cambridge Unit for Responsive Biopolymers). She also taught Engineering Drawing to undergraduates and ran their practical experiments classes.

Head of Department Professor Nigel Slater gave them presents and cards signed by their many friends.

He said, "Although Peter and Annette have different jobs, it is remarkable how similar their careers have been. Not only are they leaving on the same day, but they started within 10 days of each other – Peter on 1 March 2003 and Annette on 10 March 2003.

They are both very similar, highly professional and 100% reliable. They get tasks done with the minimum of fuss.

Peter has long been my first port of call in a crisis and I am indebted to him for his unwavering support.

Annette has looked after CUBE so well that I have never for a moment had any concern about its operation.

Both will be a great loss to the Department.

Peter leaves us for retirement and we wish him every happiness for a fulfilling second career.

Annette leaves us to work with her partner Mark in their company Oncolytika. Mark worked with me at Aston and Cambridge for 12 years and is a second son to me – so I am delighted that Oncolytika is so successful.

On behalf of all of us I give Peter and Annette our sincere thanks and best wishes for the future."
