Dr Binjie Hu has been the Teaching Fellow at this department since September 2007, but she is now moving on to new challenges. Members of the department gathered in the Tea Room on Thursday, 19 August 2010 and Head of Department Prof Lynn Gladden presented her with a card and a small gift.
As Teaching Fellow, Binjie contributed to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assisted with the design project, transferable skills and laboratory-based teaching.
Binjie comes from China, Dalian, where she gained her first degree. After obtaining a PhD in chemical engineering from Newcastle University, she worked at Birmingham University as a research fellow from 1999, mainly on hydrodynamics in multiphase reactors using video techniques. She is now going to work as a lecturer in the Division of Engineering, the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China (UNNC). UNNC is a Campus of the University of Nottingham UK located in the coastal city of Ningbo in Zhejiang province, near Shanghai.
Her future job in UNNC will allow her to do both research and teaching. She says, "I look forward to establishing a research group there and forming future collaborations with members of the staff in Cambridge. Certainly I'll miss all of you, free tea, cakes, as well as British weather as I heard Ningbo's summer temperature could be 39 oC or even higher, which is something I have to adapt to. I wish all of you continue enjoying the life in Cambridge. Hope I could meet you again either in China or elsewhere."
