Farewell to Mike Johns

Dr Mike Johns

Dr Mike Johns has been appointed to a Chair in Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia and will be leaving this department on 16 March 2011.

Dr Johns completed his BSc in Chemical Engineering at the University of Natal (South Africa) in 1994 and went on to gain his PhD here at Cambridge in 1999 under the supervision of Prof (then Dr) Lynn F Gladden. He followed on to a PDRA position and was appointed a lecturer in September 2000. He worked mainly at the Magnetic Resonance Research Centre. He was promoted to a University Senior Lectureship in 2005 and a Readership in October 2008.

presentationA lunch was held in Dr Johns' honour at Pembroke College on 4 March 2011 and Head of Department, Prof Nigel Slater, presented him with a card and gift. Prof Slater said, "The Department is very grateful to Mike for all his efforts on our behalf and we wish him well in his new career in Western Australia."
