First of UK Fluids Network SIG

last modified Feb 03, 2017 10:58 AM

CEB hosted the first of the UK Fluids Network special interest group (SIG) meetings on Thursday 28th January 2017. SIG 10 is looking at the Fluid Mechanics of Cleaning and Decontamination and this launch meeting attracted approximately 30 delegates from over 10 universities and 6 industrial partners.

The morning session featured presentations from the Fluids Network leaders and the SIG co-leaders Julien Landel (University of Manchester) and Ian Wilson (CEB). Delegates discussed the proposals in  breakout sessions after lunch. A key feature of the SIG is its website, which is now live at http://www.sig10-cleaning-decontamination.net/

The afternoon was rounded off by presentations from three very different industry partners (DSTL – defence, GSK - pharmaceuticals and consumer products, and FERA - food, from farm to fork). The talks demonstrated how important the topic is to their respective sectors.

The SIG is open to new members from industry and academia. A strong feature of this meeting was the number of new connections made. Contact Julien Landel for more information.
