I'm an engineer, get me out of here!

last modified Jul 04, 2016 01:11 PM

I'm an engineer, get me out of here! is a free online STEM event where school students meet and interact with engineers. It’s an X Factor-style competition between engineers, where the students are the judges.

Students challenge the engineers over fast-paced online live CHATs. They ask the engineers anything they want, and vote for their favourite engineer to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public.

Postdoc Krishnaa Mahbubani entered the June 2016 Healthcare round and was the last person to be evicted.

She answered questions on everything from What do you have for breakfast? to What did you have to study at school to become an engineer? and which engineer inspires you the most?.

Krish said of the competition, "It was a wonderful experience and made me really enthusiastic about the research I am doing and am about to go forwards to do. Though I have to admit, I don’t think I have ever had to type quite so fast in my life."
