Novartis International Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp) is Novartis' pioneering global four-day seminar held 28-31 August 2016 at the Novartis International Headquarters in Basel/Switzerland. BioCamp provides the opportunity to gain insight into the drug development process of a global pharmaceutical company, to interact with key Novartis professionals, and to learn about trends and challenges in the healthcare sector.
CEB PhD student and WD Armstrong Scholar Theresa Maier was selected from over 1000 applicants as one of 60 students from 18 countries globally to participate in this year’s event. The programme included a guided exploration of Basel and the Novartis headquarters, talks from Novartis executives covering every part of the business, as well as a group competition focused on developing a novel method of combining digital technology and patient care. In addition to selecting the three group winners, a panel of judges also honoured three individuals for their outstanding leadership skills.
Theresa's team, consisting of Mina Aleksanyan (Turkey), Lounis Boukhezzar (Algeria), Masamitsu Takamatsu (Japan), Taylor Newton (USA), Nazrin Abd Aziz (Malaysia), Caroline von Achenbach (Switzerland), and Dimitrii Travin (Russia) was ranked amongst the top 3 teams, while Theresa was additionally recognised as an individual winner. For her achievements and leadership capabilities, she was awarded a personalised internship, fully tailored to her career aspirations.
"It was such a privilege to be able to attend the 13th Novartis International Biotechnology Leadership Camp! It enabled me the unique opportunity to engage with inspiring individuals and key decision makers within Novartis, including the Executive Committee and Senior Management. BioCamp also emphasized the importance of passion and life-long learning, of reaching out for opportunities, and of having fun while doing so. It has been a wonderful experience, and I am so grateful for having been recognised together with my team as well as individually for our achievements!" – Theresa Maier
