Dr. Sarah Rough has been appointed the Course Administrator for the
M.Phil. programme in Advanced Chemical Engineering Practice. Sarah has
been researching and teaching within the Department for nearly 8 years,
and she also completed her M.Eng. degree here. She joins a Departmental
M.Phil. working party of Dr. John Dennis (Director) and Mr. Colin Deddis
(Manager).
The Department and the Chemical Engineering Department at MIT have established a collaboration in advanced chemical engineering practice, funded by CMI (The Cambridge-MIT Institute). This has enabled the Department to introduce a one-year M.Phil. degree, which combines taught work (by both attendance at MIT and at Cambridge), a research project, and time spent at a UK company site alongside MIT students in a Practice School.
Sarah's job involves coordinating the various taught Modules, liaising
with members of academic staff within and outside the Department, ensuring
that the correct examination protocol is observed, and essentially
being there when the M.Phil. students need any advice or help about
the course.
