Manual Handling Manual handling covers a wide variety of tasks including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling and carrying. More than a third of all reported injuries in the UK which result in someone being off work for more than 3 days are caused by manual handling. For further information on manual handling please see the HSE leaflet below. Any manual handling tasks where the loads approach those indicated in the diagram need to be the subject of a special Manual Handling risk assessment, which will be carried out by the DSO. In addition, any tasks which are particularly awkward or repetitive may need to be assessed. Please contact the DSO for further information. |
