Research groups in this department have pages under the Research tab.
Each group has a designated webmaster, or two or three people may share the role. The group webmaster can log in to the Content Management System (known as BeeKeeper) and change the group's pages as required. After each change, the page must be submitted for approval to the system administrators, Vanessa Blake and Tom Matthams.
The BeeKeeper system includes a Help button and you may find the user manual there.
There are also some notes on features that are not in the manual.
If you add pictures to your page, then a reasonable size is 250 or 300 pixels wide. The system will not automatically reduce the size if you upload an enormous image, so please either reduce the size first or use the Image Manager tools to reduce the size. Within Image Manager, please put your images in an appropriate folder and do not put them all at the top level.
It is possible to put in a small image and link to a larger one. If you click on the image to the left, a larger one will pop up.
Simple animation may be achieved using animated gifs, as illustrated by the beachball to the right. An animated gif may loop indefinately, or it may be set to loop a small number of times and then stop.
More sophisticated animations, or those requiring commentary, would need to be embedded as a video. If you wish to use videos, we recommend that you use the Streaming Media Service and do not put them on the ceb server. A good illustration of this may be seen on the Cell and organism engineering group page.
There is also a feature where an image can change when the mouse is hovered over it. Also, if you click on the image to the left, an animated gif will pop up.
If you would like to have a tutorial on the use of the Content Management System, please see Vanessa.
