The MBE programme prepares graduates of the highest calibre for recruitment by the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and consultancy industries. MBE graduates enter a wide variety of professions in every corner of the globe and alumni are frequently engaged by top tier firms. Students are strongly encouraged to develop their entrepreneurial talents and new companies have been formed as a result of participation in the programme and the University's extra-curricular entrepreneurial activities. As the programme enters its ninth year, the alumni network is building momentum and offers significant social and business networking opportunities.
Graduates of the programme may decide to pursue an academic option and recently students have taken up PhD studies in management and in scientific research labs in the UK, South Africa and at MIT, Harvard and NIH in the USA. Others with medical interests and qualifications have continued their professional career progression, whilst a number of students are employed in professional, governmental and not-for-profit, organisations.
All Cambridge students are advised and supported in career planning by the University's excellent Careers Service, that provides information about prospective employers and training in all aspects of making applications as well as holding regular recruitment fairs with prospective employers. The programme's module leaders and faculty are also willing to provide specialist information and advice.
