The MPhil is a research degree which, in appropriate circumstances, may count towards the entrance requirements for the Ph.D. Almost without exception students commence their studies with the intention of applying to pursue a higher degree. MPhil candidates undertake a novel piece of research under academic supervision and are examined by thesis and oral examination.
Length and dates of course
One year, starting in either October, January or April
This is a research degree examined by thesis and oral only. Candidates will undertake a novel piece of research under academic supervision.
Candidates should normally have taken a first degree and achieved the minimum of a second class honours or equivalent in chemical engineering, a biological science, engineering, chemistry, applied mathematics, physics or related subjects.
Fees and costs
A limited number of studentships may be available for the highest attaining UK and EU applicants covering fees and (depending on status) maintenance.
