Professor Nigel Slater has accepted election to the new Professorship of Chemical Engineering (1999). Nigel was a Lecturer here at Cambridge in the 1980's and following an industrial career with Unilever and Welcome is currently at Aston University. His research interests are principally on the biological side.

Head of Department, Dr Howard Chase, said, "I am highly confident that Nigel will further boost our research profile. He will also be a good and popular teacher."

Professor Slater will join us full-time from the middle of 2000.
