Research description
I am interested in studying interfaces between biological and abiological systems, and methods to improve the interface compatibility. Particular emphasis is placed on developing bio-compatible nanomaterial-protein hybrids to monitor the changing electronic interactions inside naturally-occurring photosynthetic organisms, and furthermore, to gain better understanding in the material structures adapted by the constituting molecular aggregates. The ultimate research aim is to design biomimetic synthetic solar cells and light-harvesting devices, and explore the potential of directly exacting electricity from renewable, abundant sources of plants, algae and cyanobacteria.
