Research description
My PhD project focuses on using NMR techniques, specifically 2D relaxometry studies and self-diffusion measurements, to investigate the interactions between liquid reactants and products and a solid catalyst surface. Understanding the interaction between adsorbates and surfaces is essential for the rational design of new heterogeneous catalysts; knowledge of the relative strength of interaction of each adsorbate with the catalyst surface and the influence of each adsorbate on the others is a crucial step towards understanding the mechanism and kinetics of the catalysed reaction.
