The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology has been ranked first in the UK for Chemical Engineering in the Guardian University Guide 2027.
The ranking reflects the Department’s continued commitment to providing an outstanding student experience, combining world-leading teaching and research with strong industry engagement and practical opportunities.
The achievement comes as the Department launches its new Industry Student Support Network, strengthening connections between students and industry through mentoring, professional insights and real-world project opportunities. Building on longstanding partnerships with organisations across the sector, the initiative further enhances the undergraduate experience and supports students as they prepare for future careers.
The Guardian University Guide ranks university courses using measures including student satisfaction, teaching quality, continuation rates and graduate outcomes.
