Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

 

Dr. Danilo Russo is a Research Associate at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology of Cambridge since May 2018 in the Sustainable Reaction Engineering group, led by Prof. A. Lapkin. His main research activities in the Department are in the area of machine learning for automated process optimization, automated generation of physical knowledge and scale-up of processes. He is also involved in different collaborations on the development of functional molecules from waste products.

He will be teaching the Heterogeneous Reactors course from January 2020.

He completed his Ph.D. and undergraduate studies at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), whereas the original research included in his Master’s Thesis was completed at the Loughborough University (UK). Among his research interests: kinetic modelling, advanced oxidation processes, fate of xenobiotics in the environment, hazard evaluation, nitration processes, heterogeneous and homogeneous photocatalysis, continuous flow microreactors.

At the University of Naples Federico II, he has been a tutoring service teacher, providing assistance and frontal supplementary lessons to group of student with specific needs. He still is a certified exam committee member in Industrial Chemistry, Safety in Chemical Processes, Safety and Environmental Protection, Chemical Processes for Water Tratment.
