Davidson Inventors Challenge Final 2022
Following the launch of the Davidson Inventors Challenge in October 2020  we have again received an amazing response to this online competition with UK schools and we have been working with nearly 200 students from about 50 different schools from across the UK. Over the last few months Year 11 and 12 students have been working in teams having researched sustainable development goals and selected  a problem-solving task to work on. Under the supervision of a team of 10 reviewers, including some of our researchers and graduates in industry providing feedback and guidance along the way, students have produced a project outline and a final report presenting sustainable and innovative ideas to tackle their selected problem or challenge.

The Davidson Inventors Challenge (DIC) Final and Awards Ceremony will be taking place on Thursday 26 May 2022, 15:00-17:00 BST (see programme and registration below). The three shortlisted teams will be presenting their inventions to a large audience made up of the DIC organising team and reviewers, department members, participating schools but also graduates and captains of industry.

The key aim of this challenge is to engage students with chemical engineering discipline and biotechnology but also help dispel myths about what chemical engineering really is about and what chemical engineers do. Participating students have not only learned about sustainable development goals but have also got a taste of what being a chemical engineer is like by putting key skills into practice such as problem-solving, data analysis, critical thinking, and commercial awareness.
