The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology are delighted to announce the offer by Lucy Cavendish College for a £12,000 studentship (or two £6,000 studentships) for the Master’s in Bioscience Enterprise programme for the 2021-22 academic year.
Through the provision of this funding Lucy Cavendish and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CEB) hope to provide the support required which may otherwise prevent a student from taking such a life-changing opportunity.
The MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise (MBE) embraces an interdisciplinary focus, providing a vital opportunity for those with an interest in enterprise and the ambition to found technology companies or take up leadership, executive or consultancy roles in the life sciences sector. Lucy Cavendish aims to become a close partner with the MBE in enabling those with the motivation to take an interdisciplinary approach to the tackling the many challenges facing humankind.
Award criteria
The award will be granted based on financial need - along with each applicants’ anticipated contribution to both entrepreneurialism in the life science sector and the Lucy Cavendish community. A principal consideration will specifically focus on how the award would enable the applicant to accomplish those contributions.
Number of awards
Either a single award of £12,000, or two half-awards of £6,000 each.
Eligibility
Candidates must select Lucy Cavendish as their first College choice. Candidates must have received an offer to join the programme in October 2021 and membership at Lucy Cavendish College before they can be considered for the studentship.
Applications are welcome from any candidate, irrespective of gender, nationality or geographical location. There are no restrictions on citizenship, country of residence, or fee status.
How to apply
To apply for this funding applicants will be required to contact the MBE administration team directly, after confirming their offer and membership to Lucy Cavendish, via email at: mbe-admin@ceb.cam.ac.uk
Applications should outline:
- How the course will help realise the student’s ambitions within and intended contribution(s) to the life sciences sector
- How the candidate will be able to play a part in the life of Lucy Cavendish College
The Department will manage the application and allocation process.
Other requirements
The beneficiary will be required to submit a short report on their course progress outlining the impact of the studentship on their Cambridge experience. Lucy Cavendish College will coordinate this.
