Best Paper Award for Mayyada El-Sayed

Mayyada

Mayyada El-Sayed has won the "Best Paper Award of International Conference on Chemical Engineering 2008" at the World Congress on Engineering and Computer Science 2008 (WCECS 2008).

Mayyada's paper was entitled Separation of the Two Major Whey Proteins Using Cation-Exchange Adsorption and the award was based on the reviewer reports and the evaluation score results of the conference committee members during the congress period. The paper describes a novel process for separating the two major whey proteins, alpha-lactalbumin and beta-lactoglobulin, from whey concentrate mixtures based on selective cation-exchange adsorption.

The World Congress on Engineering and Computer Science 2008 was held at UC Berkley, San Francisco, USA, on 22-24 October, 2008. Of the 663 submissions received by the World Congrees, only 376 were accepted, giving an acceptance rate of 56.71%.

Mayyada is supervised by Professor Howard Chase.
