Dr Duncan Purvis

As part of the continuing Alumni Speaker Series, Dr Duncan Purvis gave a talk on Friday 29 January 2010 entitled The Potential of an Integrated Biosensor System.

Dr Purvis completed his PhD at the Institute of Biotechnology and was supervised by Prof Chris Lowe. He is now Technical Business and Development Manager at Universal Sensors.

He spoke about biosensors and their applications. This ultrasensitive simple technology developed for the POC sector is also being applied to more demanding sectors of environmental testing and food quality assurance. He also discussed the market for biosensors and the hurdles to be climbed before getting to market.

The next talk in the series will be given by Dr Tony Gillham, on Friday 26 February 2010, at 5 pm.
