CEB Research Video competition

Award winning Dance my PhD video

Purpose of the competition:

We believe that people within the department who understand our research may be able to help us communicate our research strengths to the outside world. We’d like to invite you to create your own video and submit your entry to this competition. We’d like to present the winning video to our Research Review Panel and also use it as an engaging visual tool to promote our research externally at the Official Opening and future department outreach events like the Science Festival, etc...

Assignment:

To produce 2-minute video focused on department research highlights in general, one of its main research themes or your own research project. We would especially welcome any videos focusing on the quality and/or variety of the research taking place within CEB, and that show what a dynamic and exciting department CEB is.

Department history and past research may also be included (past department inventions/innovations, both in Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering).

(Note:  if any labs are featured in the video please ensure researchers are filmed wearing appropriate PPE.)

We are not looking for perfection and you do not need a professional camera to do this, but, of course, good presentation, delivery, sound and film quality will score highly.

Prize:

A fantastic 2-day experience package with Gass productions, a Broadcasting & media Production Company. You will learn to create professional video content  with the experts (Day 1 filming on site, Day 2 professional editing). You will have your research filmed in the lab or have an interview about it.  The final product will give the winner a promotional tool to showcase their work and potentially attract funding. Note: If the winning entry is of high quality, we will consider commissioning the production of a more complete Department video to the suitable internal candidate. This would be a paid assignment.
