Croatian National TV visited the department on 22 November 2017 to film scenes for an upcoming documentary series on ageing.

They interviewed Drs Ljiljana Fruk and Gabi Kaminski Schierle, who are working with ageing related materials and diseases.

Dr Ljiljana Fruk studies the use of synthetic chemistry, molecular biology and various instrumental techniques to design bio-nano elements and hybrid materials for application in catalysis and medicine.

Dr Gabi Kaminski Schierle and her group focus on investigating the molecular mechanisms that can cause neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Huntington’s disease (HD).

Croatian National TV also interviewed Daniel Espin Munoz from oncology who is working on senescent (Zombie) cells related to ageing and disease and William Bains, who is a guest lecturer in this department interested in the chemistry of life and in particular ageing.

The series of 5 episodes is currently in the filming stage. After production work and editing, it is expected to be released at the beginning of 2019. The documentary is commissioned by Croatian National Channel One but it is made for the international market.
