Michael Sargent, Henry Lin, David Cox, Tamsin Bell, Geertje van Rees and Rittick Barua
Prizes for best presentations and posters at the Graduate student conference were presented by Head of Department Professor John Dennis at a gathering on 3 June 2016.
Third year PhD students gave presentations and the three prize winners for best papers were Michael Sargent, Henry Lin and David Cox. (They are all equal winners.)
Michael Sargent is from P4G, the Paste, Particle and Polymer Processing group and is supervised by Dr Bart Hallmark. He spoke on Bubble dynamics in opaque fluids.
Henry Lin is a member of the Molecular Microbiology group, led by Dr Graham Christie. His paper was on Spore Surface Display.
David Cox works at the Cambridge Centre for Neuropsychiatric Research, headed by Prof Sabine Bahn. He spoke on Integration of bioinformatics strategies to aid drug discovery and diagnosis in schizophrenia.
During the Third Year Graduate Conference, Second year PhD students presented posters. The three prize winners for best posters were Tamsin Bell, Geertje van Rees and Rittick Barua. (They are also all equal winners.)
Tamsin Bell is from the Catalysis and Process integration Group supervised by Dr Laura Torrente. Her poster was on Stabilisation of metal nanoparticle catalysts using curved supports.
Geertje van Rees works at the Cambridge Centre for Neuropsychiatric Research, headed by Prof Sabine Bahn. Her poster was on Evidence of microglial activation following exposure to serum from schizophrenia patients.
Rittick Barua is in the Magnetic Resonance group and presented the Application of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in characterizing particle migration in suspension.
The Graduate student conference took place on Monday 18th April and Tuesday 19th April 2016.
