Dr. V.S. Vassiliadis

Dr. Vassiliadis has been visiting the School of Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), in Wuhan, China, after a formal invitation by the School, between 16-30 September 2017.

The invitation involved several activities, including the delivery of 8 seminars on Optimisation theory and Dynamic Simulation and their application to areas of industrial relevance. These presentations were given to advanced undergraduates and graduate students. Further informal presentations were also given to PhD students and undergraduates, in particular giving an overview of our Department and Cambridge University to them.

Other activities involved discussions about future collaborations between the Process Systems Engineering group and the Automation and Control groups at HUST. It is expected that this collaboration will flourish in the very near future, with exchanges of visits for students as well, and the pursuit of mutual collaborative activities in research and funding opportunities, as well as opportunities to interact with industry in China.
