Parliamentary Briefing on Nuclear Security (Ashok Kumar Fellowship)

last modified Dec 05, 2016 01:40 PM

Earlier this year, Akshay Deshmukh, a graduate of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, was awarded the Ashok Kumar Fellowship. The Fellowship, which is jointly funded by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and the North-East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC), enables a chemical engineering researcher to spend three months working in the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).

While at POST, Akshay co-authored a short briefing on nuclear security for the UK Parliament. The briefing provides an overview of the key threats to nuclear security, and of UK and international initiatives that seek to address them.
