Welcome to new lecturers

On the 19th of January 2016 an event arranged by Dr Graham Dransfield, was held to welcome our new PIs (Principal Investigators). It was held at our Tennis Court Road site, also known as the Institute of Biotechnology (IOB).

Dr Colin Davidson showed the new lecturers around the facilities before the main event began with coffee, networking and a brief history of IOB presented by founder Professor Emeritus Chris Lowe. The rest of the evening was filled with a number of short and insightful presentations about people’s research interests with topics ranging from germ warfare to wearable technology. Mrs Kal Sandhu and Professor John Dennis also presented and included a vision for the future of CEB. There was an opportunity for open discussion between all attendees before refreshments were served at the close of the event.

Over 40 people filled the tea room to see the presentations including; Professor John Davidson, representatives from across CEB, Cambridge Enterprise and some major companies. The occasion was declared a significant success with energy levels remaining high throughout and a good time had by all. Potential collaborations within the department and follow-up actions with industrial companies are now being discussed.

Thank you to everybody who attended and presented. Plans are in hand for similar opportunities to interact and promote cross disciplinary working before we move to the new building. Please get in contact with if you have any suggestions, or would like to be involved.
