Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

President - Flavia Bush

Hello, I’m Flavia, a part IIA student at Magdalene and CUCES President for the coming year! My role within the committee involves liasing with all members of the committee to make sure all events, both career and social, run smoothly throughout the year. Ensuring that all students enjoy their time in the department and have support regarding careers after graduation is something we strive to achieve in CUCES. If you have any ideas or would like to get in contact with me or the Committee, feel free to email me at and/or the committee at

Secretary - Ellen Blowey

Hiya, I'm Ellen, a second year at Selwyn and I'm Secretary. Beyond the standard secretary jobs of taking minutes and organising meetings, I'm here to support all the other committee members in their roles to make sure CUCES events run smoothly and are as best they can be, whether it be Christmas/Annual Dinner, careers events or Frank Morton. I'll aim to make sure you're all aware and are getting hyped for every event and that you know what's happening when. Feel free to come and talk to me in the department or send me an email if you have any suggestions for CUCES events or any improvements you think the CUCES team can make :)

Treasurer - Tom Hilbourne
Hi there, I’m Tom, a third year from Clare, and am the CUCES treasurer. My role is to support the work of the committee on anything financial. This could be the many talks that are arranged by CUCES from companies, the social events of the year or to organise sponsorship to make everything as affordable as possible.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me ( or grab me in department. In my spare time, I seem to spend a lot of my time rowing (but I’m not really sure how it happened).

IT & Publicity Officer - Isabella Bentley
Hiya! I'm Izzy, a third year student from Newnham. As IT & Publicity Officer, you will be getting loads of exciting emails and social media posts from me about upcoming careers and social events. I'll also be maintaining the website and putting together the Undergraduate Focus section of the department's termly newsletter, so if you ever want to contribute an article or idea just let me know (

Social Secretary - Alex Lawrence
I’m Alex, a 3rd year studying at Emmanuel and I am the social secretary for CUCES. In this role I am responsible for organising socials events such as swaps on behalf of the Plumbers’ society as well as aiding the committee in the planning of the Christmas and Annual Dinners and, of course, the legendary Frank Morton sports day. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions pertaining to any of these events or if you would like to know more about the CUCES committee in general. Outside of the department, I spend a lot of my free time weight lifting or undertaking various hobby engineering projects.

Careers Representative - Rob Walker

Hi! I'm Rob, a 2nd year from Pembroke, and having been the CUCES Part 1 Rep for the past year, I'm excited to now be moving into the role of CUCES Careers Rep. I'm hoping to be able to continue and expand upon the excellent range of careers events that CUCES run in collaboration with the department and to support you in finding internships by ensuring that previous students internships are well documented and readily available. Outside of Chem. Eng., I spend lots of my time riding bikes!
