Research

My research expertise lies in the field of sustainable chemicals and materials manufacturing. My main research interest is in predicting sustainability performance of industrial processes at an early design stage and during scaling technologies to production using life cycle assessment and techno-economic analysis. The focus of my current work is on development of sustainability assessment methods for complex problems of integration of bio-feedstocks into the emerging circular chemical supply chains. I am interested in emerging challenge of implicitly linking the end-user-required functions of biochemicals and biomaterials with the sustainability impact of their life cycle to address industrial and societal sustainability challenges (climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss). This will help to guide and support emerging clean technologies in identification of most sustainable pathways of development. To address strategic and operational needs of transition to sustainable manufacturing I am looking at the issues of data gaps and data exchange between stakeholders. Within my research programme I actively collaborate with industrial and academic partners.
